I needed a way of having my system of programming in one place to track my athlete’s performance in the gym as well as manage the overall workload on a week-to-week basis and over the course of an entire season. I also wanted to have a system in place that would also meet the needs of our physio so we could have all programs in one place whether it be for performance or rehab.

RYPT has gone above and beyond to solve the problem. It’s saved me so much time creating base programs for all off-season/pre-season/in-season phases as well as individualising the programs for players or buckets of players. I have also integrated our full Return to Play protocol within the app so the physio and I can program and track the players’ injuries accordingly.

We also plan on utilising the GPS function heavily next year which will be so easy to break down and display the appropriate data we need and want, and I plan on using the store function to sell programs on the side to external athletes which again is such an easy process to begin.

Having both internal and external load monitoring, RPE and GPS, in one place has really helped us manage the players’ workload week-by-week throughout the season. The injury reporting has been great for communicating the players’ injury status with the head coaches so everyone is on the same page and can plan training sessions in advance based on availability. We’ve been able to save time on programming/scheduling with the ease of use of the calendar. I’ve also been impressed with how the team at RYPT take our feedback onboard and are constantly delivering updates to the platform.

Sam Carey is a Sports Scientist with Output Sports and Head of Strength & Conditioning at Blackrock College RFC. He completed his BSc in Strength & Conditioning at Setanta College and has experience coaching in a variety of team-based sports across different levels.
